Hi David

Fair question, but a Gage test shouldn’t be pertinent to a device such as this, I simply requires calibration from time-to-time.

The last time I investigated this topic, such instruments struggled for accuracy when dealing with transparent coatings, so it would be advisable to check they can do that.

The CC-830 is a material qualification spec only. It is the spec outlining all the testing requirements of conformal coatings. It is what the coating manufacturers follow to qualify their products. Actually, the handbook does a great job of explaining the relationship of the different IPC specs in sections 2.15 & 2.16.
