Come on everyone.

This is not a contest between Britain and US. We should be proud of how our
countries have fought and co-operated together in the distant and recent
past.

Neither of us should disrespect the other.

I have never seen my country as emotional as it is right now.

I want all of the Americans to know that the feeling of support over here is
overwhelming both among ordinary people and government. Our parliament has
bee recalled today because of this attack and I am sure from that you will
here 100% backing for the comments already made by Tony Blair. Our
newspapers are printing the Stars and Stripes across their pages for people
to display in their windows and the changing of the guard in London
yesterday had the American national anthem as an accompaniment.

I have been blasted off line for saying 'world solidarity' when people in
Palestine were smiling and cheering. There are always idiots somewhere in
the world but when Gaddafi gives his support and Russia says they would
consider a joint operation with NATO something unique has happened and I
don't think a few idiots in Palestine can detract from that.

Please concentrate on the similarities between our nations, not our
differences. Britain provides a good link between the US and Europe without
which I think there would be a great deal less understanding between the
continents. Let's put this argument to bed and concentrate on how much
genuine solidarity currently exists. Some good may yet come from this
tragedy, but we must not allow anyone to drive a wedge between us in the
free world - that only helps the terrorist.

I think Jack is right that we must get back to technical content, however,
the e-mails I have received this morning off-line have sickened me and I
will be unsubscribing. Maybe the rule for technical comment only should
have been adhered to earlier.

Goodbye for now.

Neil

States you would be

I do not consider this posting appropriate. It is blatant
jingoism, grossly
                inaccurate and exaggerated.
Never forget that one of the world's greatest genocides was
the virtual
annihilation of the native American Indian... some 24
million of them!
