I know from a designers POV that silkscreen is last on a list of checks and
concerns before sending a board out. Depending on size and density, this effort
could take up 2 days (double-sided large dense bd.). That's 2 days NOT in the
fab house. Eng. and prog. mgrs. want the damm thing out NOW. I always try to
schedule in at least 1 day for this effort. It helps alot of other people down
the line later on.
As for pin 1, I did nothing but sq. pins at one job. I was shocked when I
changed jobs, that the new co. had nothing. I've been slowly changing over the
discreets.
