I wasn't aware that this technology had reached the point where laser
trimming would be valuable, interesting.
As I am sure you know resistor trimming with feedback is standard stuff in
hybrid thick film, I am not sure this would translate to organic substrates
though. CO2 lasers would likely cut into if not through the board, I think
even a Yag laser would have trouble differentiating between the ink and the
board and less powerful laser technologies would be very slow and probably
would require re-configuration to be a trimmer . Be interested to see what
other (more informed) 'netters have to say.

Subject: [TN] Laser Trimming equipment for resistive ink

  Hello Fellow TechNetters,

I am looking for any recommendation to the above equipment to work with
resistive ink, also called buried resistors, in PCB. Could such an equipment
perform resistance test and provide feedback loop for laser trim?

Would also aprreciate any information or papers relating to the resistive
ink.

  Thanks for the help.

  Best regards,
  David.
