Common sense :-) Fit, Function, and Reliability should be your
guidance. Insure that the wire will not snag or break from stress and
material fatigue during normal handling and use in the product.
Support within 1 inch of the connection, to strain relief the solder
joint, is a good minimum to start with.

  To whom... 28 Apr 97

If I have wire jumpers on a mulitlayer pwb, is there a standard that
defines the distance between bond points on the wire length. I know that
Mil-Std-275 and IPC-2221 both call out bonding at 1" intervals, but I am
looking at test set equipement, not hi-rel avionics hardware and IMO
the 1" interval is an overkill. Is there any guidence, good commercial
standard, out there or if not, what is being done? Thanks in advance.

                                                Regards,
  Bob Vanech Bob
