IPC 6012 is actually the 'controlling' document whereas A 600 is an
acceptance guideline 'after' the product has been fabricated. Basically
6012 states fabrication result criteria and A 600 provides visual
guidelines for the same.

Since IPC A 600 was introduced prior to 6012 (before 6012 there was RB
276, prior to that some ML number, and so on, and so on) I believe most
people believe that to be 'the' document to reference.

When a fabricator states on their documents they meet A 600 this can be
assumed they were 'inspected' in accordance with that document, and not
'fabricated' in accordance with that document.

We try to educate our customers when they submit procuement documents
stating 'fabricate and inspecto to...A 600'. We explain we will utilize
applicable elements of 6012 for fabrication

Hope this helps someone.

Franklin
