hi,
assumption #1.- this is a through hole solder joint.
assumption #2.- this ring is on the 'top' side
assumption #3.- the connector leads are solderable
assumption #4.- the flux wetted the top-side pad and the lead.
assumption #5.- you are using a wave solder machine to make this solder joint
sounds like you haven't gotten enough preheat and/or the belt speed is too slow. if the assumptions aren't correct, disregard this email.

Subject: [TN] Solder fillet problem
Hi All!
Probably too late to ask but I need some input for this
weard problem.
I got some connector with big leads that, with the unaided
eye looks properly soldered. But if I look at it with the
microscope at 10X, it looks like the fillet does not realy
stick to the lead. The fillet end rather abrubtly (makes a
rign) and it looks like there was no fusion between the lead
and the solder. I hope my explanation is clear enough!!!
