hi, assumption #1.- this is a through hole solder joint. assumption #2.- this ring is on the 'top' side assumption #3.- the connector leads are solderable assumption #4.- the flux wetted the top-side pad and the lead. assumption #5.- you are using a wave solder machine to make this solder joint sounds like you haven't gotten enough preheat and/or the belt speed is too slow. if the assumptions aren't correct, disregard this email. phil -----Original Message----- From: Jean-Francois Bissonnette [mailto:[log in to unmask]] Sent: Thursday, April 20, 2000 3:29 PM To: [log in to unmask] Subject: [TN] Solder fillet problem Hi All! Probably too late to ask but I need some input for this weard problem. I got some connector with big leads that, with the unaided eye looks properly soldered. But if I look at it with the microscope at 10X, it looks like the fillet does not realy stick to the lead. The fillet end rather abrubtly (makes a rign) and it looks like there was no fusion between the lead and the solder. I hope my explanation is clear enough!!!
