The purpose of an anti-foam is to change the physical conditions of the
water in the tank, especially the surface tension. Many anti-foam
products are based on mixtures of soft soap and octylic alcohol. These
are perfectly acceptable for electronics applications. On the other
hand, those based on silicones should be viewed with the utmost caution.
