Flexible circuits are big business. The orange coloured film is polyimide,
which goes under the brand name of Kapton. It is a DuPont product. Components
may be soldered on using conventional print and reflow, although tooling can be
a bit tricky. The film stands up to the temperature pretty well - it's the same
stuff used in high temperature wave solder masking tape.
