Roger,
I believe your original question was about finding someone to evaluate
the situation. There are several very good labs who could help you;
1. Contamination Studies Lab at: Residues.com
2. Robison Labs
3. Trace labs
4. EMPF/ACI Labs
to name a few.
I strongly agree with Brains and others opinion of silicone type
coatings (you are not the only one who has had problems with silicones
“under the hood”).
The main issue here is the testing capabilities available to predict
these sorts of problems. Standard 85/85 (85 degrees C/85% RH) will only
give an indication of the “as built” cleanliness and purity of processes
and materials used. Testing, using airborne loading of contaminates
(such gases, acids, and sub-micron dust), is expensive and in some cases
not available at all. Without the temp/moisture/airborne contaminate
testing and evaluation of your product you are quite simply gambling.
(Very expensive habit!)
Replacing the coating with a different type is not simple. Besides all
the logistic changes and training required you still need to do the
above mentioned testing or you are still at square one.
