Steve,
   The PADS 274x output is terrible. We have many problems with it and
try it first with our viewer[CAM350] before sending it to the pcb
production houses.[They also have had many problems with the files].
Just make sure of your 274D format setting to get the correct number of
digits.
    You would think that something as simple as the gerber output module
would work correctly!!!!!
