So you are not classified, Daan,
about wrist wraps, we have been using them for years as a complement for grounded floor, chairs etc. The reason is that you can have other diverse material in the surroundings which are not safe, e.g. store cabinets, degraded ESD plastic bags and temporary package materials. With today's near-100%-yield requirements, it is then cheaper to carry a wrist wrap than replacing a damaged semi chip on a board with hundreds of chips. People here are so accustomed to it now, so it's like taking on your seat belt, just automatically done.

Hello Technet,

We've recently received some complaints from a customer who is not happy with the fact that our operators don't wear wrist wraps during seated operations like handsoldering and inspection. Our factory relies on grounding through the (conductive) chairs, ESD-shoes, conductive floor and ESD-workbenches, but the chairs are tested only once per year, which is obviously less frequent then one would test wrist wraps.
Is the customers concern justified, and should we introduce wrist wraps ?
