Of course, there are many dependencies, but I would ask that if you wish to
share some information with me (by direct email if you prefer) about the
price you presently pay for solder paste, the quantity and type used, I
will compile an anonymous tabulation of the results, and post here.

Please ignore if you find this intrusive.

Hi Jerry!

Here, and where I was back in California, I was buying all our paste through
Com-Kyle. The quantities were such that is about the best way to go...plus
I'm a Kester fan. Currently we use about 15,000 - 20,000 grams a month, and
that was about the same use I had back in California. Depending on the paste,
I pay between .09 -.11 cents a gram (.09 cents for RMA, .11 cents for OA).
Com-Kyl's prices are pretty stable, and they keep fresh paste in stock (most
of the time).

At a previous employer (just a few years back), I was paying .08 a gram for a
water soluble paste and it didn't make a difference is it was a SN63/PB37, or
a SN62/PB36/AG2, it was still .08 a gram. But we were using it at the rate of
10,000 grams a week, and we got it directly from the supplier.

I have paid as much as .125 cents a gram for paste over the past few years,
but I didn't really look at what the Tin market was doing...I've been told
(from sales guys) that's the biggest thing that affects the price of solder
paste, what the price of Tin is doing on the metals market...but that's the
most I've ever paid.
