Hi,
I have a situation here that I believe can be remedied by
decompiling, adding and recompiling a text font in Autocad. We are
using Veribest as a layout tool and we do our documentation in Autocad
(don't ask why).
Veribest treats the symbols on a drill chart as a custom font
called 120-drill. When a DXF is run to Autocad the font is mapped to
the Autocad "TEXT STYLE" of STANDARD. There appears to be no way to
change the "TEXT STYLE" mapping. The default font for the STANDARD
TEXT STYLE in Autocad is txt.shx.
To this end I created a custom font called drill.shx that contained
just the drill symbols. I created this font with share ware called
FONTGEN. This worked pretty slick except for one thing.
My problem is that if I change my STANDARD TEXT STYLE font to to
drill.shx all text on existing drawings changes to drill symbols, if I
leave the STANDARD TEXT STYLE as txt.shx my drill symbols change to
letters.
I believe my solution is to append my drill.shx font to the unused
ASCII characters of the txt.shx font and use character mapping in the
dxf output. Has anyone done this or know of anyone who has? Does
anyone have access to an Autocad users group?
Thanks,
Rob
