We have been using "no-clean" for some time now. Yes, when exposed to alcohol,
a white residue does result. I believe that this residue is benign, although
rather unsightly.
By customer request we have been asked to remove no-clean residue for
particular cards (due to customer concerns of effects the residue may have on
conformal coating). In that instance we cleaned the cards in our in-line
aqueous wash system using a suitable saponifier. We use an Alpha saponifier. I
imagine other flux suppliers make saponifiers as well.

Subject: [TN] What can I use to clean my boards after rework if I am
Hi everybody I am having a problem, and it is that we used to use Water
soluble paste in the past and for that we used Alcohol to clean reworked
boards. Now we are in No-Clean and if we use alcohol there are some white
residues that sometimes bothers me a lot. Could somebody tell me more about
this white residues, how can I clean them, what can I use, are they
acceptable. This is urgent to me I will appreciate all your help.
Gracias,
