JoAnn,

Mr. Chee did not state the tech. reports to the prod. sup. In a
typical mfg company, maintenance tech's normally report to a
engineering dept. and operators/assemblers to a production
supverisor/manager. If this is not the case as you assume to be
not, then you are right. The tech. ought to work it out with her.

You don't have to translate "giving a rose to a lady..." word by
word. Where's a sensor of humor ( or should I say an
appropriate manner?) for this??? I resent "unprofessionalism"
mentioned here. One form of unprofessinalism is improper
manners presented by a male when arguing with a woman.
That I believe it should be different when arguing with a male. If
the tech's boss is a male, he should battle it out. As fas as I can
see, the tech is 90% right.

regards
Matthew

Matthew,

I can't answer Mr. Chee's question but I can you that women
don't
like being "placated". She is his supervisor, regardless of either
person's gender. Presenting her with a rose does not help. It is
very unprofessional. Would the tech do the same if his
supervisor
was a male? It's best to forget about gender and try to keep in
mind
that a supervisor is a supervisor. Period. And it's NEVER a good
idea to go behind the boss' back and do something contrary to
their
instructions without first notifying them. Unless you don't need a
steady paycheck.
