My apologies to everyone who has asked me for a copy of the study our
manufacturingdepartment did on the Humiseal conformal coatings! I got
several requests for this study a couple of weeks ago & went in search of a
copy of the evaluation results. Much to my dismay I found that no report
was ever issued. And no one remembers the specific results except when they
thinned too much, the coating ran under the components without depositing a
thick enough film. The study specifically addressed brush coating or flow
coating under components. The work instruction was revised to reflect a
maximum thinning ratio of 10% by volume. Also, a thickness gauge was
purchased for use in ensuring that the average conformal coating on the
boards is maintained at 3 +/- 0.5 mils. So much for documentation, I
guess. Again, my apologies!!
