If you have copy of SMI proceedings San Jose Sept 10-12, 1996,  papers by Y.
Zhang (Page 641) and by P. Hinton (page 806) give some good references to tin
whiskers.  If the proceedings ar unavailable send me an E-mail and I will FAX
you the reference pages.  

>From your brief description it does not appear that you have tin whisker
problem, but since tin whiskers are a strange condition, it should not be
disregarded.

If you need further information or or a copy of a few of the papers that I
have in my possession, let me know.
