if you have plasma machine - down stream oxygen plasma should kill  
virus if your mat is not too large (you can always bent it or roll it  
in such a way to fit in the chamber).  With proper control, it should  
not effect plastic (even PWA - you can plasma it prior to coating  
anyhow).  check with surface tension and see if it is clean  
properly ;-).  IMHO.  (just don't over do it to ash it).
