Check with Sick Optik, Banner Engineering, Turck, or one of the other custom safety light curtain manufacturers. I am sure one or all of them have products that can work for the old axial inserters and auto-insert machines.

You can add light curtains in line with the emergency stop switches.
Yes, everything must have covers or light curtains. I have seen on table top machines and machines like your through hole machines that have frequent operator entry to load boards. For these , light curtains work great.

Hi Technetters,

I've got a crazy question for the group. During our last insurance safety
audit, the auditor was concerned about the axial parts and DIP parts
placement machines that we have. Yes, we still have axial and DIP
placement machines. The concern was the ability of the operator to engage
in the machines moving parts, during rotation of the table and placement
of the parts.

Has anyone ever had any safety enhancements to these machines? Light
curtains or something similar?

Thanks for any and all responses.

Blair
