Dave,
You can tell Clumpy/Kloumpios to set the GPS units on their tractors to Herborn, Germany. They can help inspect galleys for commercial airplanes. Everytime you fly a Boeing airplane take a close look at the galleys. I'm sure Clumpy/Kloumpios will leave their stamp of approval somewhere on the galleys they help produce.
Best Regards,
Tom Carroll

Subject: [TN] NTC Friday Element Quiz - the Answer
Hi folks - Here is the Friday Element Quiz Answer:
The Question:
This element is a ductile BCC metal with a high melting temperature and
low coefficient of thermal expansion. Nearly 10% of this element's
production is used as an alloying addition for a periodic table Group 5
metal. It is a superconductor below 5.1K. As a pure metal, this element
has no structural applications. What element is being described?
The Answer:
The element is Vanadium (V)! Vanadium is a critical beta phase stabilizer
in titanium alloys and plays a major role as an alloying element in tool &
high strength, low alloy (HSLA) steels. There is 650 tons of vanadium in
the HSLA steel of the Trans-Alaska pipeline which permits the high pumping
pressures to move crude oil more effectively. Since 1977, over 13 billion
gallons of crude oil has flowed thru the HSLA steel pipeline. Vanadium
based alloys are also used as superconductors in some specialized
applications instead of the more traditional Niobium based alloys.
The quiz winner is Tom Carroll of Boeing Defense, Space and Security. Tom
is somewhere in Europe and will need to give Clumpy/Kloumpios an address
to put into their GPS units on their tractors. Sounds like another boat
ride for the dynamic duo.
