Is it reasonable to "Standards Development" and the opportunities derived from the held copy rights can be profitable?
Is it reasonable to expect that integrating the opportunity for industry suppliers to generate wealth at trade shows with a conference for meetings to develop standards would be profitable? Perhaps Bev and Werner are discussing two symptoms of an condition. Electronics manufacturing in North America a shrinking.

Hi Bev,
I have been doing this juggling act for years. None of this is made any easier with the conference program sometimes listing the documents worked on, but other times only the committee or document number.
Giving the fact that IPC has been loosing money for at least the last two meetings, there is no way IPC will extend the committee days [what am I saying, in the past, some committees actually started on Saturday before the official start]. This of course is difficult this year, since we start right after Easter and people would have to be away from home over Easter.

In the past, many committee meetings actually did start as early as 7:30, no problem there. Maybe schedule some committees during the Keynote Session. Later than 5/evening, while it can be done may not be very good—people do get punchy and tired.
Things started to really change about 10 years ago, when with the advent of the exhibits, committee work was no longer the sole focus of the IPC meetings.
Werner

Technetters,

I don't know about you, but for me three days for the committee meetings is
too tight.

For instance for me this coming April:

No overlap on Monday. In fact the morning is free.

For me on Tuesday I have:

4 starting at 10

2 starting at 1:30 (plus a session to chair)

starting at 3 - OK for committees, but I also have a paper to give

On Wednesday:

3 starting at 8

Which overlap with things at 9 (session to chair) & 10

On Thursday;

3 starting at 8

Which overlap with something at 10:30

No overlap on Friday. In fact the afternoon is empty.

Now I know APEX and IPC Midwest are not built for Bev Christian. But other
people must have my same problem. I have tried to get the company to send
more people to no avail.

Can the following be considered:

Make more use of more than the three core days?

Start at 7:30?

Go longer than 5?

Have evening meetings?

If you are for or against any of this, please write to Greg Munie (He is
expecting this.) at:

Regards,

Bev
