Rob,

  I had a wash system with ionic measurement, I can see no point is wasting
DI water for a wash. Maybe a final rinse.

  My system would do DI rinses until the rinse conductivity was under a
specific level. 

  A tap rinse is fine if you use an air system to blow off loose water. Try
doing that and get an ionic residue test, you might be surprised.

I know it's late in the day today but I was wondering how many people
out there are cleaning water soluble flux (leaded or lead free process)
with straight DI water?  No chemicals added.  And have verified the
boards are clean even under low profile parts.
