Jean-Francois,

IPC-CC-830 is a materials qualification document, not a application or performance specification. It sets the minimum criteria for coatings to be used in high performance electronics.

IPC-A-610 and IPC-J-STD-001 both have coating sections, but both defer to the engineering drawing or print. Essentially, the coating goes where the drawing says and coating does not go where the drawing specifies a keep out zone. Required clearance depends on the drawing and the quality system of the customer.

Hi Technetters,

Can anyone tell me if there is a spec on the coverage of conformal coating, more precisely is there a required clearance on the edges of the PCBs?
