The failure definition for data loggers is: "Failure is defined as a maximum
20% nominal resistance increase within a maximum of five consecutive reading
scans."
That means you have to have five consecutive readings that are at least 20%
higher in electrical resistance than the corresponding [that means, at the same
temperature] initial temperature.

For data loggers, it is required that each daisy-chain be scan at intervals
not to exceed one minute. This later mandate has nothing to do with the failure
definition, but with the required monitoring.
