Bad. While I personally don't use either Cadence or Mentor products,
the less choices (i.e. competition) there are, the less chance that
capabilities will improve and the cost will be reasonable for what's
left.

Hi all,
I guess you have all heard that Cadence is offering to buy Mentor for
$16/share, about a 30% bump over current stock value and closely to the
past year's peak price (pcdandf.com/cms/content/view/4828/95/).
This would be a big deal in the IC design space, but it could really
have a huge impact on PCB design.
What's your take on this? Would a Cadence-Mentor merger be good or bad
for PCB designers?
