Hi Jon - the minimum solderability coverage required by the JSTD-002 is 95%
and if a component vendor is not willing to sign up for that requirement,
it means they are not confident that their plating chemistry and/or plating
process can achieve the 95% minimum value. You need to determine if by
accepting a lower minimum value, such as the 90% figure, you will or will
not impact your soldering process workmanship requirements or solder joint
integrity. Good Luck.

Has anyone have Knowledge on solderablity of matte tin finish on
components?
Question came up today from an vendor of the component being purchased
will only guarantee 90% coverage in lieu of J-Std-002 95% coverage and has
requested relief from the J-Std-002 requirement.
Thanks, Jon
