Hi Technetters,

We have recently received some assembled boards from a new supplier and upon
carrying out a First Article Inspection on them I noticed what I thought
were disturbed solder joints.  I then referred to IPC-610 which seemed to
confirm this.  Upon talking to the supplier about this problem they said
that this was not disturbance but "cooling lines" due to the fact that the
component leads were lead-free and the solder paste was Sn62/Pb36/Ag2.
They referred me to IPC-610 Para. 5.2.7 Fig. 5.56 (page 5-18) which looks
nothing like the joints on our components.  The only area this anomaly is
occurring is on the SOT 23 Transistors & Diodes.
Our company is not a main line SMT producer and I have never seen this
anomaly before.

I have contacted Steve Gregory and he has kindly agreed to post a couple
of pictures on his website for me, see what you think.

I really hope they are cooling lines!!!
