How about http://www.elchempub.com/epfiles/ep30.htm and
http://www.elchempub.com/epfiles/ep30(2).htm?

This 2-volume book in a case is the most comprehensive modern work I
know of (>1800 pages). In fact, A Comprehensive Guide to the Design and
Manufacture of Printed Board Assemblies Vols 1&2, should be mandatory
reading for everyone in our industry, from cover to cover, twice over.
Do not be put off by the price; it is worth at least a year of your salary!

I have zero vested interest in it, despite 2 chapters bearing my name.

I mean books that lay the fundamentals of SMT and TH, books that I could use to teach laymen what electronics assembly is. Besides that, what would be the ultimate book that adds lead-free on top of the basics?
