Jeffrey,
Every place I have worked at did it differently. Best practice is to
conform with the documentation requirements of another department, CM DC
???, which is responsible for releasing prints to manufacturing in or
outside the company and keep an electronic set of the original cam files
for yourself and your department.
Rodney

Subject: [DC] Fabrication Data

Help! We are trying to identify a "BEST PRACTICE" for managing and
controlling the cam data package for production PCB. Currently our
gerber data, IPC-D-356 netlist and fabrication drawings (single image
and array) are zipped and a text file listing with date/time stamp info
is attached and released into our CM system. Are others placing this
data under release control or is there a better way to manage it?
