This one was particularly interesting for me, because I used to be a
supplier to all the factories involved (MC, ETA, EM Marin, Tissot, Omega
etc.). I knew personally some of the names mentioned. The Swatch Group
is the world's biggest watch maker, although a hefty part of their
profits come from the high-end quality mechanical watch market, rather
than the low-end Swatches, where the profit per piece is very small,
although the quantities are phenomenal.

I can testify that the guys are serious. The quartz resonator problem is
the more plausible. However, if I were the granter of exemptions, I
would wish to know more about their experience with other alloys. The
PCB, of course, does have small conductor spacings but they give no
examples of actual faults and 10Sn90Pb is surely not an acceptable
thermal problem. I may be wrong, but I have the impression of a small
amount of obtuseness between the lines.
