Hello Phouwen,
Over the long haul, I would guess no. Energy, oil based raw materials and
metals will likely continue to increase over time as will wages in most places
around the world. Productivity increase will still be made but it will be
harder over time to keep pace.
A potential condition that could bring lower prices for a while is when
companies sell product at a loss to kill off competitors but ultimately that is a
road to perdition for the industry in general.
One path to some cost savings would be to use traditional solders which are
less expensive, use less energy and can be used with less expensive circuit
laminates. Fortunately, as we have been hearing a lot lately, traditional
solders are also more environmentally friendly so a smart company can do the
right thing environmentally and save some money while doing so.
