Hi Shawn, Bev, Guenther, IPC LF Listservers,

<We need luck! There are some companies that MUST rely on compliance docs.
We cannot afford to by a scanner (that might or might not give us the info
we need) and there is no way in hades that we can go to an outside lab.>

PushBack downward and examination of your suppliers and SORRY an outside
lab will be your best choice as I read your note. Yes it will cost your
company money. RoHS and WEEE and Pb-free are NOT cost reducers.

"Willful blindness" was a legal term used in the USA Enron case to explain
how executives (and companies in my extrapolation to our LF, RoHS
situation) can't just fly blind saying they are the three monkeys (see No,
hear No, say No) collecting paychecks or sales.

(in case you want to read a bit, including their jail possibilities)
(Now if only I could get Cheney, Rumstud, and TonyB as their cell pals)

<I was trying to explain to one of my employees the nightmare of proving
compliance this morning. He is still in shock and cannot comprehend the
problems, such as "how are the various EU countries going to ensure that my
goods are compliant?">

Everyone has the difficulty. Germany might be ahead of us after a rude and
difficult Christmas 2005.

The primary solution the EU is using is self regulation/compliance.
Which means that you better know what your company is doing.
(And you can turn in your EU non-compliance competitors)

HEY Competition!!

<If we cannot trust our vendors, who have to trust there vendors, and so
on, and so on, how can small companies produce compliant goods? We have no
choice but to rely on "luck"!>

NOPE!!! Not a Solution, unless you want to Bet Your Company, and let your
competitors decide your fate.

Yours in Engineering, Business, Dave
