Hey thanks for that Robert.

Interesting that all of those docs map directly to RoHS /WEEE - I don't
think CA is joining the EU - as Mike joked - on the other hand I will make
sure that CA does acknowledge the contents of the EPA report before it votes
on that........

Interesting dilemma that the EU has by the way. The controversy has been for
some time on whether to let Turkey into the EU. I can hear the groans 'big
deal" and to some extent you are right, a lot of countries were let in over
the last few years that had virtually nothing to contribute financially -
and hats off to the EU for that.

Why should Turkey be a sticking point? Well, Google it and you will find
that Turkey is actually on two continents. Europe (a little bit) and Asia
(a lot).

So if Turkey is allowed in, then the countries bordering Turkey - including
Iraq, Iran and Syria might feel inclined to apply for membership?

Here is the link to California's AB (assembly bill) tracker page for

refererence.

Is there an on-line link that contains the verbage in the proposed

AB2202 bill?

Yes, John, that's essentially correct. Thanks for that clarification.

There is a bill winding it's way through the state legislature, AB2202,

that would expand the RoHS part of the scope of the California

Electronic Waste Act of 2003 to be the same as the EU: it would

"prohibit an electronic device from being sold or offered for sale in

this state if the electronic device is prohibited from being sold in the

European Union on and after its date of manufacture, due to the presence

of certain heavy metals." Note that PBBs and PBDEs are already banned in

California. It proposes to be in effect January 1, 2008.

This would nearly require that California become an EU member state. ;o)
