Nic gave me permission to publish that dialogue, it will be "going up" this
evening. Expect nothing on Friday though, I need some down time with my 12
string.....

Subject: Re: [LF] Some Interesting News on Exemptions
Interesting, in response to the snippets below:
I'm wondering, after watching the riots in France recently, what would
happen if an EU based company told its union workers that in 30 days, they
would be laid off because (drumroll please) the EU said to stop
production!!!!!!!!!
Combine that with an internet website that identified the members of the EU
parliment who voted for this mess, their key staff advisors, and members of
the committee that are supposed to vote on the exemptions, along with
contact info, email addresses, phone numbers, etc........
Might change somebody's opinion.....anybody know what unions to contact and
how??
Maybe if we just leaked to the press that thousands of jobs were in
jeopardy, and pointed to such a list of names...
Might be even more effective. Oh, and also point to those articles about the
percentage of EU companies not ready for RoHS (thus "likely to shut
down").... can we fan the flames, create mass histeria, like the press
loves to do anyways.
And take it one step further... remember that as companies stop making
stuff, other companies will be impacted, causing the whole of industrial
europe to grind to a stop.... can we paint a nice picture of Armegeddon
here....
or am I just wishful thinking here...
Have a nice day,
Steve Mikell
