Dear All,
Just thought I'd pass on some interesting news I've gleaned from the UK RoHS Enforcing body regarding pending exemption requests.
Firstly when emailed their reply was:
"We can only rely upon published exemptions. Pending exemptions have no legal standing"
Secondly at a conference yesterday when asked what companies should do that are awaiting a decision on exemptions come the 1st July, the reply was:
"Stop Production"
So on the one hand we save the environment (allegedly), yet on the other we put people out of jobs, make them default on mortgage payments and negatively impact their lives. But hey. Maybe I'm getting too cynical these days.
