hi,
as david stated, scuffing is absolutely essential. may i add that the surfaces that are being bonded (faying surfaces) need to be 'water-break-free'. stainless ain't that easy to bond to either. a good hint as to which surface preparation is inadequate is to check the failed surfaces for the presence of adhesive (cohesive failure...good). absence of adhesive indicates adhesive failure (adhesive failure...bad). chemical etching of the faying surfaces is the best way to prepare the surfaces; often, though, pumice scrubbing will work. dupont material literature has good data on this topic, and the supplier of your adhesive should also be able to help.

Delrin is a difficult plastic to get anything to adhere to, as it is a
"waxy" plastic. You might have some success with a two-part epoxy. I would
recommend scuffing the surface of the Delrin before gluing.
