Defects on circuit board assemblies are often measured in Defects Per
Million Opportunities, or DPMO.  IPC has several publications that describe
DPMO calculations.

If you are interested in software that calculates the opportunity count
based on the CAD file and the DPMO based on defects that are entered, see my
post yesterday about software that we use from Tecnomatix-Unicam.
