I haven't run across this yet, so I thought I'd ask this group.

In the case of a self-contained motorized lens assembly, I understand that
the electronics in such an assembly must be lead-free. Also I understand
that the chassis of the assembly must meet RoHS guidelines.

But what about the glass of the lens? Lead in glass is fairly common, it
does good things for the lens. (What, exactly, I'm not sure - I'm
electronics, not optics.)

There are exemptions in the RoHS annex. Specifically Annex (5) that state
that lead in the glass of cathode ray tubes, electronic components, and
fluorescent tubes is exempt. A lens is not an electronic component. Will
it have to be lead-free?

Could anyone perhaps send me some information on this?

        Thanks,
Mark
