Roger, sometimes when common criteria is used in more than one document
we have to deal with the leapfrog effect.

610C addresses wires that are to be soldered. A-620, which is targeted
for cable/wire harness mfg, was published several years after 610C.
A-620 had a need for expanded coverage because the soldering process can
compensate for some strand damage that would lead to premature failure
in a crimp connection.

The 610 committee (and the J-STD-001 committee), when building revision
D of these documents, made the decision to include a more complete table
such as that in A-620. In the process, these two commitees worked with
the A-620 committee to resolve some concerns in the criteria. When 620
Rev A (expected to be balloted in the spring) is published, the strand
damage tables in all three documents will align.

Subject: [TN] wire strand damage tables don't match

IPC-610C table 5-4 identifies the number of allowable damaged strands in
a wire. This table does not match the one in IPC/WHMA-A-620 table 3.1
(page
3-2)

Is there a plan to align these tables in the upcoming revisions of these
documents?
