Jeff,
I'm on contract in a component engineering group that also uses Agile
for their Pdm. They also use Oracle in some manner, but I am not
familiar with the inner relationship of the two.

The company uses ORCAD CIS for their schematic capture. They have a
master library that contains all the schematic symbols of their
components. If a capacitor were lead finish only it would have a unique
part no. in Agile, but would still appear as a capacitor symbol in
Orcad. Also it may remain as an 0603 footprint in the circuit board cad
tool.

The data in Agile would contain the unique identification for the
manufacturers part no.

All their boms reside in Agile which is also a web based program. The
contract manufacturers have access to this and can always have the most
up to date boms for their assy process.

I know the company has been looking at DX databook see www.Mentor.com
I think that is were you will find it.

Leslie

Subject: [DC] LEAD FREE COMPONENTS

I need some different view on how other companies are controlling there
components so that they can insure that they are building with lead free
components.

Currently our BOM information is manually (no laughing) entered into an
Oracle data base. The information is a company part number that
references a manufactures pdf document on the intranet that will then
contain all the required information.

Our organization is looking for multiple ideas or solutions.

1. A bridge to take an automated BOM from the schematic capture
program an import it directly to an Oracle data base.
2. Is anybody controlling (or identifying) the lead free component
options on library part or CAD symblol?
3. I believe there used to be a program called DXDatatbook?
4.
