Subject: Re: [DC] LEAD FREE COMPONENTS

Hi Jeff. We're also in the middle of creating a process to do this. Our CM dictates that
we must assign a completely new part number for lead free parts; otherwise, they cannot
easily control their inventory. The schematic symbols will reflect not only the new part
number, but also an indicator in the description that will help engineering determine
whether it is lead free or not. Yes, DxDatabook is alive and well. We will be implementing
it over the next month or so. We expect it will greatly reduce the size of our library and
streamline (to some degree) part selection. We're using Agile as a PDM system and lead free
parts will be indicated by description there as well.

Subject: [DC] LEAD FREE COMPONENTS

I need some different view on how other companies are controlling there components so that they can insure that they are building with lead free components.

Currently our BOM information is manually (no laughing) entered into an Oracle data base. The information is a company part number that references a manufactures pdf document on the intranet that will then contain all the required information.

Our organization is looking for multiple ideas or solutions.

1. A bridge to take an automated BOM from the schematic capture program an import it directly to an Oracle data base.
2. Is anybody controlling (or identifying) the lead free component options on library part or CAD symblol?
3. I believe there used to be a program called DXDatatbook?
4.
