Steve,

Given that information I would install the led as shown. You should get
rid of the square pad. That only adds to confusion factor.

Being picky but...

The illustration that you made may be better off being mirrored so that
it appears the same way around that the LED is on the board, Cathode to
the Right.

Also your illustration shows a square pad for the Anode, this is not
found on the PCB?

Like I said I would do last night, I got pictures!

Look at:

and tell me if we installed this LED correctly.

Then look at:

and tell me if this this illustration I made for our operators is
correct.
