hi,

why would that be?  the eraser is acting as an abrasive wearing its way through the mask (or conformal coat for that matter) down to the foil.  it sounds like a clever idea to me.  i think you'd want to check and make sure that no esd is generated if the board is populated.  if the board isn't populated then who cares?

Interesting, I'm thinking if an eraser can remove solder mask from copper
then that solder mask was not applied correctly...hmmmmmm
