Although it was never proven, aluminium salts have been cited as
contributory to Alzheimer's disease. I think this was based on the fact
that chemical analyses of the brains of persons having died from it
showed a small proportionally higher level of Al than those of "healthy"
cadavers. However, it is not known whether this was cause or effect or
whatever. There are also aluminium compounds in anti-transpirants so it
is just possible it may be better to smell :-)
