Hi Barry,

I believe that there are too many assembly issues to leave the whole
panalisation to the boardvendor. Most of the times we supply the
boardvendor with a specification. For our subcontracting work this means
that our production engineer designs a panel that's easy to handle in
our assembly, and also fits well within the boardvendor's manufacturing
panel. To make this optimum fit (for efficient use of laminate) we use a
software package named Kwickfit. By adding some fiducials and sidenotes
to the picture displayed by Kwickfit you have a complete specification
of our panelised board.
Only problem is that we still leave the positions of the breakaway tabs
to the vendor, which occasionally results in boards that are hard to
separate without damaging tracks or components, or boards which are not
stiff enough.

Happy New Years T-netters.

I am researching Board Penalizations in an effort to standardize our
processes.

I am curious as to how the rest of the industry handles this. We have
been
told that most manufacturers do not submit board penalization specs.
for the
board house to follow.
Is this true.

We are trying to create a Spec. to issue to our board house's and would
be
very interested in any guidance or input that the Tech. community would
be
willing to provide.

Thank you.

Barry.
