Soldering directly to brass can lead to "dezincification", an embrittling
reaction between the tin in the solder and the zinc in the brass. Good
practise is to plate the brass with an immunising layer to prevent this.
Your brass bits supplier should be familiar with this and have a standard
process on his books.

I vaguely remember something about soldering brass in some recent posts.  We
are looking at some cooling parts that may require soldering brass to
copper.  My experience says that this is a non-problem.  The posts that I
remember said something about tin and crystallization.  Am I mixing two
different thoughts here?
