Hi Brian,
Thanks for the clarification. The "good reason" for the lack of coating
on some areas of the IC's is that there seems to be a kind of dewetting
from these surfaces. The machine manufacturer's engineer told us that
this is quite normal, and is caused by release agents that are used
during manufacturing of the IC's.
To have nicer results (or have the extra 18 days of damage-prevention)
it seems that manual rework is needed.
