In a prior life, we mounted hardware onto a pneumatic turntable, and hand
sprayed conformal coating onto the boards in a spray booth. This was in a
low volume high reliability application. We used a pneumatic turntable (with
a regulator to control the speed of rotation) to prevent any sparks from
occurring during the spraying process from the atomized conformal coating.

To mask off areas, we used tape that did minimized any static charge. We
also used an area ionizer to prevent a static charge from being generated.

Hope this helps.

Good Luck.
